I admire and respect you for your persistence and I really hope that it pays off and Caleb gets to be with his REAL father who loves him so much. You have renewed my faith in people and please know that your little boy can feel your love for him even tho he is not with you.

Michigan laws are in dire need of revision, and your site is a wonderful inspiration for a long overdue cause. I hope that your little boy has a chance to know you and grow up with you in his life. Best wishes to you both.

Your son will find out sooner or later and resent his mother for what she did and when he does you will be there for him and that is wonderful! My husband is adopted his mom and dad know the name of his bio. mother and wont tell him, he is very angry about this right now and he is in the U.S. Army so he really cant do much about it during his training and his mother will tell me nothing. I think what you are doing is wonderful, keep your head up. You may be in for a long fight but in the end it will all be worth it.

Maybe this case will change the laws in Michigan for good. I personally think that this country is a joke because America is suppose to be about freedom and equality but you're only as free and equal as the laws let you be. And what kind of a witch would deny a rightful father visitation with his child. Sounds like these women need a psychiatric evaluation.

My son is most probably the father of a little girl born in August of 2003 here in Michigan. She is my one and only grandchild if this is true. However, paternity testing was not even considered as the mother quickly married someone else before the baby was born. Even though that man denied paternity when the maternal grandparents sought to adopt the child, and even though my son asked the Court to order paternity testing (for him), the Judge was, apparently, not even allowed to read our requests/story/pleas because that would be what they referred to as ex-something evidence. I/we couldn't believe that such a thing could even happen in this country. The baby looks just like my son. He was in a live-in relationship with the woman when she conceived. There is a 99.9% chance that he is the father, and now he is denied the opportunity to be a father to this littel girl. The maternal grandparents are very selfishly preventing any kind of access to this child to me and/or to my son. This little girl will grow up not knowing who her real father is....although I have documented everything and some day, perhaps, we will be able to show her how hard we tried to prove paternity. Sadly, in addition to the laws in this state that contributed to this sad state of affairs, it was also a matter of money. Neither my son nor I had the $2500 retainer it would have taken for a local attorney to even take the case. We tried to find a pro-bono attorney but to no avail. Not even FIA or Family Support would help us.

I am so very encouraged to see that others think Michigan's law is unfair. Maybe there is a glimmer of hope here. If anyone out there has any suggestions, please feel free to contact me.

What a sad story. There are so many children that dont have a father or parents, but here is one begging just to see his son and has to fight for it. Over here in Australia you would have no problems at all. Maybe that law needs a major wake up. You are in my thoughts and I hope everything turns out the way you want.

I am touched by your story. So many fathers turn their backs on their children and you are fighting for your son. I think it is terrible that any law would try to seperate a loving dad from his child.

Bill, this is unbelievable!!! I live in New Zealand where the Laws are very different (and very equal). I seperated from my 12yr old daughters dad when she was 4 and I've struggled for the past 8 years to get him to have her! He's too busy getting on with his own life. I think it is so important for children to have their Daddy in their lives. I truely feel for you and wish you all the luck in the world getting access to your little man. Keep fighting, you've got alot of support behind you.
